LaGuardia Airport Terminal B Retains Perfect 5-Star Skytrax Rating

28.02.2025
LGA Terminal B’s second consecutive Skytrax 5-star rating reaffirms its leadership in airport excellence.
LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), led by Meridiam and its partners, today announced that LaGuardia Terminal B has retained its perfect 5-star rating by international transport rating organization Skytrax. This rating underscores Terminal B’s status as a global leader in airport excellence, two years after making history as the first airport terminal in North America to be named the World’s Best New Airport Terminal. LGP developed and manages Terminal B in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
“We’re honored to share this important recognition with our partners at the Port Authority, LGP, the New York community, and all of the guests who choose Terminal B for their travels,” said Omri Gainsburg, Meridiam’s North America Chief Operating Officer and member of the Board of Directors at LGP. “This second consecutive Skytrax 5-star rating is a testament to the LGP team’s continued dedication and all-in commitment to excellence that provides New York with a world-class aviation gateway and customer experience.”
The World Airport Star Rating by Skytrax is a global benchmark for the world airport industry, assessing customer service and facilities across over 570 airports. Widely referred to as the “Oscars of the airport industry” and known as the “Passengers Choice Awards[1],” the evaluation is based on scores assigned by customers following detailed audit analyses.
As one of the largest public-private partnerships in U.S. aviation history, Terminal B aligns with Meridiam’s model of long-term partnership with the governments, communities, and investors it serves. Since earning its first 5-star distinction in 2023, Terminal B has continued improving service quality and elevating travelers’ experiences. Enhancements include:
- Additional electrified seating in dining and waiting areas
- Improved signage with walking distances for easier navigation
- Atmosphere upgrades with soothing sounds and music in key spaces
Other recent additions that upgrade amenities include:
- The Atrium Business & Conference Center, a state-of-the-art, 55,000-square-foot facility built by the Port Authority that is adjacent to the terminal
- The new Chase Sapphire Lounge, a refined retreat offering a sophisticated and comfortable space
- Dining improvements, such as a new pre-security Starbucks and the terminal’s new Melt Shop
Further, LaGuardia’s Terminal B is a testament to Meridiam’s mission as a Benefit Corporation and the firm’s focus as a long-term asset manager of sustainable infrastructure to better meet communities’ needs. Originally constructed in 1964, Terminal B has been reimagined as a more modern and innovative space that enhances the traveler experience. Terminal B has been recognized for nation-leading environmental standards and in July 2021, then-completed portions of the terminal were awarded LEED v4 Gold certification.[2]
“From the start, our goal at LaGuardia was to create a new airport that would rise to the level of a 5-star Skytrax rating with a passenger experience that is truly world class from curb to gate,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “A 5-star rating from Skytrax is proof that working with our private partner, LaGuardia Gateway Partners, we have flipped the script at LaGuardia, which has gone from worst to what is now the nation’s best airport.”
In addition to the LaGuardia Airport Terminal B, Meridiam’s global portfolio of airport assets includes Nevada’s Reno-Tahoe Airport enhancements together with Conrac Solutions, Bulgaria’s Sofia Airport, Madagascar’s Ivato and Nosy Bé airports and Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport. Meridiam-owned Conrac Solutions, a leader in consolidated rent-a-car facilities, operates across 16 airports in 12 states including Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and more.
