4 New Education projects awarded in Finland

25.09.2024
The City of Espoo, Finland’s second largest city near Helsinki, awarded Meridiam the development and construction of 2 new schools and 2 new daycare centres.
These projects, which will accommodate 1,330 students, will be delivered under a combination of PPP and Finnish rental models. Under this pioneering approach, the schools and day care centres will be owned by the SPV, which will lease the buildings to the City of Espoo for 20 years.
This innovative partnership exemplifies Meridiam’s commitment to sustainable and impactful investments in public infrastructure. Through this new contract, Meridiam and the City of Espoo aim to ensure long-term value and quality in educational facilities, fostering an environment that promotes learning and development for future generations.
The two new schools and daycare centers will feature state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and inclusivity. They are expected to enhance the educational landscape of Espoo but also to serve as models of modern, sustainable design and operation.
Moreover, this project aligns with Finland’s goals of promoting educational excellence and environmental sustainability. By utilizing energy-efficient building practices and materials, the new facilities will minimize their ecological footprint, contributing to Finland’s broader environmental objectives.
This new project builds on our successful track record with the City of Espoo where we have already commissioned 5 schools and 3 daycare centres for over 4,000 students in 2023.
