Our impact
University of Hertfordshire Student Accommodation, UK
Background
This 50-year PPP Project consists of the design, build, refurbishment, financing and operation of a 3,011 room student residence on the College Lane Campus of the University of Hertfordshire, located 30km north of London.
The five collegiate groups of buildings are positioned around a shared central student hub, which contains a common function room, gym and reception area alongside new sports facilities built by Bouygues and the Project Company. Being able to offer the best student accommodation and student experience is important for the University’s reputation and ability to attract new students.

ESG/SDG Key Facts
The campus obtained BREEAM “Outstanding” certification. BREEAM is the world’s longest established method of assessing, rating, and certifying the sustainability of buildings. When the certification was granted (between 2014 and 2016), only 1.5% of BREEAM audited buildings had been rated “Outstanding”.
The project is certified ISO 50001 for its environmental management.
The Project Company is a member of the University Sustainability Network Group, which actively looks at sustainability initiatives across the University.
